The Parker Community / Senior Center is the provider for the La Paz County Senior Nutrition Provider.
We are funded by Western Arizona Council of Government Area Agency on Aging, DES Aging and Adult Administration and the Town of Parker. Due to recent cut backs our funding has been decreased by 15%.
La Paz County had the highest percentage of seniors in the nation. Yet, we have very little services for our residents and it is vital we keep the few services offered. The Senior Center is the center of senior related issues due to the fact we are the only service provider from La Paz County all other providers are from Mohave County, Yuma County and some Maricopa County.
The Meals on Wheels program covers over 4800 sq. miles and serves approximately 2500 meals a month to home bound seniors and we serve over 2000 hot meals at the center as well as offer a variety of activities and trips. We also help with many senior related issues and resources available. La Paz County also has a very limited transportation system so the center helps seniors with medical appointment, prescriptions, we also help provide amenities many of these seniors living on $800.00 a month or less can not afford such as: lotions, shaving cream, laundry soap, cleaning supplies. We help find medical equipment, we help with minor home repairs.
