Prevent the development of Kgale Hill

Hi All!

The Kgale tracks are going to be lost to development in the next few months, The Catholic Church is going to develop this area between the A1 and the steep part of Kgale hill into a housing area! This was on the cards 20 years ago but was dropped and all thought that this valuable (social for Gaborone residents) space had been preserved as "Public Open Space" even see Google earth!.

Please note that this petition is not aimed at infuriating the Church, but rather to exercise our right to oppose a development. Environmentalist are at the scoping stage where they are consulting all interested and affected parties and not at the detailed EIA stage. They just started and have placed an advert in the Mmegi. The mandatory 21days of notice has not yet expired. As everyone can not attend these meetings, a petition is necessary so you can voice your opinion and vote against the development of this area.

If enough reason is found to oppose the development, it won't be done, that is why your signature is important.

This area is the last remaining recreational area left within the Gaborone City area and is utilized by walkers, churches, cyclists and birders. We need to work together to try and preserve this treasure for the future residence and our own use.
