Grant Reserve is a wide open space that is reserved for unstructured activities. Gentle exercise, kicking a ball with your kids, friendly games of touch footy, or soccer along with other non organised games. People walk their dogs or just enjoy the space.
People picnic people do Tai Chi or pilates. Some people do nothing. Now it is threatened because an ambitious Rugby League Sports Club wants to turn it into a playing field with lights and line marking. Private use of a Public reserve.
We the undersigned call on Randwick Council to maintaib the existing status of Grant Reserve Beach St Randwick as an open space for unstructured activities.
We urge the Council To stand by their vote not to allow a private club to take over a public reserve and bully the council into spending thousands of dollars installing lights and whatever else the Coogee Beach Dolphins Sports club demands.
Next it will be seats for disabled sports fans. Preserve the Reserve for its current activities.
