All women should have a full thyroid function test to include TSH T3,T4 and full Anti thyroid Antibodies for Preconception, In pregnancy and postnatal. Many women develop thyroid problems in Pregnancy and after birth eventually leading to a possibility of permanent thyroid problems.

Babies born to undiagnosed or sub-clinical, women with thyroid problems can have children who have problems with IQ and/or motor skills (dyspraxia).

Thyroid problems in Pregnancy can also lead to fatalities. I.E. still birth. Thyroid problems can cause infertility, leading women into seeking expensive treatments to have a child of which many don't stand a chance of these treatment having success because of too high/low levels of TSH hormone and other ATAs.

Many Dr's do not recognise that Normal TSH NHS range blood measurements for Hypothyroidism are way outside ideal levels for conception & pregnancy of 1.0 to 2.0mu/L.

We the undersigned call on the Minister for Health of Great Britain & Northern Ireland.

That all women have routine test on NHS for Thyroid Problems in early Pregnancy and in the 1st year after birth and also that it be strongly suggested to women to have test for thyroid issues done as preconception care.
