Petition to the Government of The Republic of Ghana Ministry of Education

We the undersigned are issuing the following petition to the Government of the Republic of Ghana Ministry of Education in accordance with the Positive Education Coalition. We demand:

1. The removal of all negative information about Kwame Nkrumah and the CPP from Junior High School Social Studies and Senior High School Government textbooks. This is undemocratic and causes an unlevel playing field because none of the other political party’s founder or party is depicted in this way.

2. The deletion from all JHS Social Studies and SHS Government textbooks any reference to colonialism or representative as Governors of colonialism as positive or beneficial to Ghana or Africa.

3. The inclusion of Ghana Autobiography of Kwame Nkrumah into the JHS syllabus and Africa Must Unite into the SHS syllabus as standard texts and primary source materials.

4. The forbidding of questions on the BECE and WASSCE from being posed to students that denigrate Kwame Nkrumah or project colonialism or representatives as governors of colonialism as positive.

5. Prohibiting textbooks being sold in schools that denigrate Kwame Nkrumah and promote colonialism.
