We are confident by now that most of you are already aware that Coventry City Council have taken steps to make the decision to revoke our Premises Licence. We have of course appealed this decision, and we are confident that we will be able to overturn such a decision in due course.

It is important however, that all of our loyal and regular customers realise that we remain open for trade, and we hope that you continue to visit us each weekend to show your continued support and help us fight this battle against Coventry City Council.

We are unfortunately unable to comment further on the details of the case whilst this is under appeal, except to say that we believe that Coventry City Council have acted unfairly and most definitely disproportionately to any alleged and witnessed noise complaints that they may have received from what we believe to be only one clearly evidenced and immediate neighbour to the Cottage.

Such action by Coventry City Council only serves to worsen a very desperate situation in the City of Coventry, resulting in a City that continues to struggle at the hands of the current Council leadership. It is no secret to claim that our City is unfortunately many years behind comparable Cities and even small towns. There has been virtually no regeneration of the City whatsoever in recent years, and we see our City crumble and deteriorate around us, whilst we see other Cities thrive under a different Council leadership.

It is fair to say also that the Night Life situation in Coventry is very bad indeed, and we hold the opinion that the local Council are very much responsible for this, and its significant deterioration also over the past few years.

The Council appear to continue on this path, and take action personal to themselves, and not with the desire to give the people of Coventry what they wish for and expect from their City leaders.

The ultimate closure of the Cottage, which has been a pub since the year 1865, only results in a significant loss to the City of Coventry, and its wider people as whole.
We are aware that many of you already travel to other Cities and even towns in your attempts to find a safe and entertaining night out. We believe that since the redevelopment of the Cottage under our ownership in 2006, we finally gave the people of Coventry a place to go that they could claim as their own, enjoy their evenings with family and friends, also with the knowledge that they were in a safe environment and could expect top class entertainment with like-minded people through to the early hours. We did indeed put Coventry further on the map at this time.

We kindly request that our loyal customers and friends show support to our appeal against Coventry City Council, and use this petition as the 'voice' of the Coventry people to demonstrate clearly that the local Council have made an incorrect and unbalanced decision, that does NOT represent the wider view of the City and the people of Coventry. Thank you.

To request that Coventry City Council review the decision to revoke the Premises Licence of the Earlsdon Cottage, and agree to work with the current owners and occupiers to address any alleged noise issues that may exist.

Such a petition, and a reversal of this decision results in the Earlsdon Cottage continuing to provide a fantastic amenity to the City of Coventry for many years to come, and at the same time acknowledges and addresses the need for the Council to fully cooperate with Earlsdon Cottage to address any alleged noise issues.

A successful petition of support resulting in a review of the decision made, can only serve to provide the people of Coventry a true voice to be heard and not ignored by their local Councillors.

Such Councillors claim to make decisions on behalf of the people of Coventry, and we believe that the latest decision made by Coventry City Council does not represent a true view of the people of Coventry as a whole and the wider Community.
