Are you a female born between 6th April 1953 and 5th April 1960? For example; a lady born in February 1953 at this moment in time is expected to retire at 61 years and 3 months, while a lady who was born in October 1953 is going to have to work until she is 63 and 7 months, NOT linear is it?
You would expect that the lady born in October would be expected to receive her pension 1year 3 months PLUS the 8 months that she is younger than the first lady, NOT SO. If you are in this age bracket, or just feel that this is iniquitous, please add your name to this petition.
If the legislation gathers apace as it is at this moment in time, the retirement age is going to be raised to 66 years, this will impact further on ladies in the aforementioned age group.
Please bear in mind, that by working longer it will NOT increase the amount that you receive as a pension when you retire.
In most cases, the amount that you have paid by the age of 55 years, is enough to provide you with the state pension.
