At least 300,000 Palestinian refugees live in Lebanon in what Human Rights Watch calls "appalling social and economic conditions." They're blocked from working in a variety of professions, and the Lebanese government has largely resisted granting them broader property rights.

The Redditor quotes British member of Parliament Gerald Kaufman on his 2011 visit to the refugee camps in Lebanon:

When I went to Gaza in 2010 I thought I had seen the worst that could be seen of the appalling predicament of Palestinians living in conditions which no human being should be expected to endure. But what I saw in the camps in Lebanon is far worse and far more hopeless. The conditions are unspeakable, but for over 400,000 of our fellow human beings this is their life: today, tomorrow and for a future that cannot even be foreseen.

At least in Gaza, frightful though the situation is, the people are free within the confines of their blockaded prison. In the camps of Lebanon they are not free.

I am one of those students who has spent 16 years suffering to learn, facing the challenges until I graduated with excellent grade almost 99%.

Despite the suffering, the doors are still closed in our faces. Again we collide with the reality that we are not allowed to go to the job market and most of the Arab states do not allow us to enter, as they don’t issue any visa for Palestinian refugees. USA and European countries has closed their boards in our faces. And the UN never shows any attention...

What was our real sin that we did?
Is it our fault?
Why should I suffer?

So because I born Palestinian, which I can never change, then the whole world will close their boards and prevent me from my right in having a good life and the right to work?

We the undersigned petition against serious racial discrimination in the refugees camps.

We need your help, to press on Arab countries, European countries and the United Nations to perform their duties towards the Palestinians outstanding students in the way that treats them as human beings…

We want the status of travel documents for Palestinian refugees changed to help them reduce the stress on their movements.

We want powerful countries to sponsor the Palestinian talented students and at least give them passports to enable them to feel their humanity.
