Nine Tweny Seven Group LLC purchased the historic Sherman homestead in October 2012 in a Residence B zone. They immediately developed it for commercial use and added 938 sq. ft. (24%) to the original structure. They are now applying for a zone change to commercial (DCD) for the 4,914 sq. ft. structure, requiring 20 parking spaces.

There is signficant potential adverse impact on traffic and safety on John Street, a narrow (16') lane adjacent to historic Spruce Street. This property is also pivotal in protecting the vibrant, mixed-use character of Southport Village.

We, the undersigned, call on the TPZ to deny the proposed zone change of 172 John Street from Residence B to Designed Commercial District.
