Turkey - One non-quota hunt:
April 16 - May 8. One bearded turkey counts toward statewide bag limit. WMA's have not been drained at the closing day of Duck season for years, leaving no place for turkeys to nest. TWRC claims a decline in turkey population. Yet they still allow 4 bearded turkeys for private landowners. Statewide season opens April 2nd, cutting most sportsmen's season who only have public land to hunt (paid for by hunters) in half.
Same Regulations should apply to private and "public" land.
We, the undersigned, hereby affirm that the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission should open all WMA's in West Tennessee with the opening day of the statewide Turkey season.
We hereby affirm that all WMA's should be drained at the closing day of Duck season, if river stages allow, to allow Turkeys more nesting grounds. TWRC states there is a decline in our turkey population, yet The bag limit is still 4 bearded turkeys on private land.
