For ten days every year, dogs, cats, horses and livestock are petrified by fireworks. Increasingly, fireworks are part of New Year Celebrations, birthdays and other events.

This means there is not a single day of the year when pet owners can be confident they will not have a frightened animal. Pet owners can't even keep their cats safe since they love to roam and could be subjected to the noise of firework displays at any time. Frightened dogs and cats go missing in fear of the noise and horses have been injured in their terror.

Added to this, there have been horrific injuries to people when safety measures have not been adhered to.

This petition is asking for legislation to outlaw fireworks except for one day a year and to be licensed in the same way as a music event would be.

We, the undersigned, call on the government to pass a law making it illegal to set off fireworks without a license granted by the licensing office of the local authority and only on 5th. November.
