No to sewerage treatment construction at Gesabakwa Ekerubo grounds

RE: PETITION AGAINST THE CONSTRUCTION OF KEROKA WATER AND SEWAGE PARCEL NO. NYARIBARI MASABA/BOKIMOTWE NO.669

We the undersigned residents of Gesabakwa Sub-Location of Ichuni Ward, Nyaribari Masaba Constituency, Kisii County strongly protest against the plan to construct sewerage treatment infrastructure at PI-NYARIBARI MASABA/BOKIMOTWE 1 No.669 namely Gesabakwa Nursery and clay soil measuring 3.4ha against the wishes of the community pertaining the following reasons;

1. The place initially a wetland was reclaimed and developed by the community to be used for co-curricular activities and recreational purposes since 1960 up to now, and hence currently serving the bordering Gesabakwa secondary school, the community residents and youth clubs.

2. Being the only facility outside the learning institutions in the Ichuni and Kiamokama Wards, all schools from the two wards and beyond assemble there during their sports and games competitions besides being used by football clubs in the sub-county.

3. The community donated the land to government to develop it, the same community therefore proposes to have the following projects constructed at the piece of land;
• An ICT centre for the youths.
• A social hall.
• A modern stadium.
This will also help Keroka town residents three kilometers away who do not have any such facility especially Keroka Police officers who currently using it for their physical exercises.

4. It will be environmentally hazardous and an eyesore to the said adjacent learning and worshiping institutions. i.e. Gesabakwa Secondary School and Gesabakwa S.D.A Church.

In view of the hard reasons please look for another alternative land for the project.
