Antioch Speedway is located in Antioch, California. It is a 3/8 oval dirt racetrack. Current promotor, John Soares had his contract cancelled by the fairboard in early November 2009. The current promotor has been unable to meet his rental payment requirements.
In the recent years the fan and driver turnout has been dropping in numbers. Speculation has pointed towards the promoter as the reason some stay away. There are some drivers that will not come to the track due to a lack of consistent rule enforcement.
It is the feeling of the racing community that new ownership needs to take place to save the speedway.
A person who is a fair, considerate, and willing to put in the effort to make the attendees have an enjoyable experience. Someone who will not cut corners and/or be dishonest and disrespectful to the employees and patrons, and will run a legitiment business. The speedway needs marketing, family-oriented events, and a new philosophy to be successful.
We the undersigned, ask the Contra Costa County fairboard to reject the reinstatement of the current promoter, John Soares. We ask that you do not allow his return to run the Antioch Speedway.
We would like the opportunity for new parties to be able to make a bid on the racetrack.
