The following document is a petition to appeal the denial of a charter school application.
An application to create a charter school has been denied by a local board of school directors, and the charter school applicant would now like to appeal that decision to the Charter School Appeal Board.
In order to appeal the denial of a charter school application, a charter school applicant must obtain citizen support for its appeal. In particular, the Charter School Law, 24 P.S. §§17-1701-A to 17-1732-A, requires a charter school applicant to obtain signatures of 2% of the school district’s residents or 1,000 school district residents (whichever is less) in order to appeal the local board’s decision.
Signing the petition will merely allow a charter school applicant to appeal the decision of a local school board to the Charter School Appeal Board.
