A Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky buried at least nine people per grave. These humans were not given their last right of resting in peace and to this day, NOTHING has been done about it.
A group of families are working very hard to make sure that families like ours are never put in that situation.
While hearing families' heartbreak and experiencing my own, I researched and I couldn't find anywhere that made cemeteries publicly display the map of their plots (with owners listed of occupied or pre-purchased plots, and vacant plots).
This has to change.
This is the ONLY way we can begin to force the cemeteries to uphold their missions of giving your loved one a proper burial.
There are many cemeteries across the USA that have not allowed our loved ones the last right of 'resting in peace'. We think they are buried and resting peacefully and then one day we are notified that someone else has purchased their plot to be buried in. This is what happened to me.
Some cemeteries have tragically buried multiple people in one plot. Some cemeteries claim these incidents are 'clerical errors' or 'mistakes'. Either way, if they are or aren't, there needs to be a permanent solution to this problem.
There needs to be a NATIONWIDE DATABASE (that the public can access) OF PLOT LOCATIONS FOR EVERY CEMETERY SELLING PLOTS IN THE UNITED STATES NO MATTER IF THE CEMETERY IS STATE OWNED, CHURCH OWNED, OR PRIVATELY OWNED. This is the ONLY way we can begin to keep this devastation from happening again in the future. You can't even begin to imagine what this does to families.
