Each national park has its own policies when it comes to the treatment of babies that are left abandoned due to humans killing their mother. Some parks say let nature take its course even though it was not nature that left the babies without a mother. Some parks euthanize the babies. Two years ago a mother moose cow was shot by a camper in Denali National Park. The two babies were left abandoned and eventually one got so weak it drowned in a river and the other one was eaten by a bear.

This year another camper shot a mother moose cow with two three week old babies. The park service was going to let "nature take its course." A letter and call in campaign was started to save the calves. Denali National Park finally agreed to let the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center in Portage, Alaska rescue the calves. The park service said they did this because the calves were causing safety problems in and around the park. Whatever the reason, the calves were rescued. One has since died because the park service waited so long to give permission for their rescue that they could not be give life saving milk.

We, the undersigned, call on the National Parks Service of the United States of America to set a policy for all parks for when baby animals are left abandoned due to a human killing their mother.

This policy should be the rescuing of or euthanizing the babies. They should not be left to suffer a terrible death.
