The purpose of this petition is to address the lack of funding available to Capital Health's Obesity Network. Obesity is not a life style choice but rather a disease.
We believe that the Provincial Government and Health Authorities should view Weight Loss Surgery as necessary treatment for Obesity.
We, the undersigned, call on the Department of Health, Capital Health, MSI and the Nova Scotia Provincial Government to increase funding to Capital Health's Obesity Network.
There are 2000 people currently on the waiting list to have Weight Loss Surgery in Nova Scotia - for many, this is a life saving surgery which they may not receive if funding is not increased dramatically and swiftly.
