Terrorists are inspired to carry out murderous acts of violence because of the recognition it brings them among their terrorist colleagues.
We the undersigned make a plea to all media outlets to refrain from identifying perpetrators of terrorist acts by refusing to publish either their names or photographic images when reporting or analysing these incidents.
The pay off for these destroyers of peace and public safety is the notoriety and a level of infamy they obtain by becoming household names. This recognition serves to make them heroes to their kind and it encourages others to follow their example. We ask that the media report any future incidents without identifying the perpetrators in any way.
