The study of Karate involves physical exercise, learning, focus, commitment and dedication. These programs teach discipline and respect, and the use of common sense before self-defense.

The Boy Scouts of America and the individual Cub Scout Packs should not be concerned with their respective Councils not carrying enough insurance to cover the injuries which could be sustained accidentally or on purpose through such activities, and Boy Scout Councils, and even more importantly, individual units like Cub Scout Packs and Boy Scout Troops, do not maintain or stock the appropriate padding and safety gear necessary to carry out those sports safely.

A mandatory requirement for this Belt Loop would be that all candidates MUST be involved with a Martial Arts School to earn this achievement.

All boys currently involved with martial arts would fulfil the necessary requirements at the dojo that they currently train at, under the supervision of their instructor. And NOT at a Scout meeting. Which would relieve the Boy Scouts of America of any liability.

We, the undersigned, call on the Boys Scouts of America and the Cub Scouts to recognize all forms of Martial Arts as a part of the Cub Scout Sports Achievement.
