In the of the case of Washington Dc's missing children it was noted that even though the children were missing , our law enforcement were only able to communicate that the children were missing via a tweet or Facebook book post , and could not alert anyone by amber alert "because their hands were tied due to the federal regulations and standards of the current Amber alert requirements". The representative then asked parents of the missing and concerned citizens, to contact the Federal Government or Lawmakers who writes these laws to see a their children's names included in the Amber Alert. I know that there are emotionally spent, frustrated parents out there exhausting every resource they have to find their children and with little-to-no publicity except for standing on a street corner holding a poster , or a post on Facebook or even eventually; on the missing and exploited childrens website months later. According to what the representative stated during the DC town hall meeting in order for these missing children to become an amber alert (or basically priority) they have to have credible proof of the abductor, and if anyone of these parents wanted to have this changed to contact lawmakers. I propose that this not only be changed, but to include possible sex trafficking victims and runaways, and children who are missing for more than 24 hours. The first 48 hours of any abuction are crucial to the possible victim, whether the perpetrators are seen taking the child or not documented being seen taking the child, these can be crucial life saving moments. If the amber alert cannot be amended to include such victims then we ask that the Federal Government agree to a special nation wide alert similar to an amber alert, following a missing persons report so that during the first 24 hours of possible abduction, or runaway ,the victim or child can be in a spotlight similar to an amber alert, making their faces publicly and quickly known across the United States.
We the undersigned of the United States of America call on The Federal Government of The United States of America , to change the victim qualifications of the current Amber Alert system to include in the Alerts: the children who have been reported missing for 24 hours, possible sex trafficking victims (upon suspicion that the child /person is in fact in threat of being trafficked) regardless of proof of abduction, even if they are viewed as a possible runaway.These children are priority too. If the Amber Alert cannot be altered to include the above mentioned, we ask that a new form of public Alert be created for these missing persons after the 24 hour mark and within the 48hr timeframe , knowing that the first 48 hours of the missing child's life depend upon it , and not upon the proof of an actual abductor/abuction siting. Knowing that the Child's face could be easily identified on a public as quickly as a child's on an amber alert could potentially save millions of children's lives in the coming future and potentially save the lives of some who have recently gone missing. We ask for more than a website ,more than a tweet more than a Facebook platform. We the parents, aunts , uncles, brothers and sisters of the children of the United States of America demand an amended amber alert or immediate funding for a new and separate public alert for all missing children similar to the amber alert, that will be broadcast similar to an amber alert. The Alert, If approved is to be called the Child At Risk Emergency Alert or CARE Alert in short. This will not only benefit Government personnel , but will also aide law enforcement in the successful recovery of the children , and will save countless lives and put children back into the arms of their parents/guardians safely and quickly. This new alert does not discriminate upon the manner of abduction, but addresses the safety of ALL missing children on a national level. More coverage means that traffickers and child abductors will think twice about it. We believe this will improve upon the safety of all of our children. Thank you for your time.
