A study by Johns Hopkins University has shown, that there are 25% fewer deaths by legal painkillers in states with legalized marijuana, than in states where it is not legal.
The Texas Tribune reported that the number of deaths due to alcohol overdose in Texas was nearly 2000 people in the year 2010, And not one single case of overdose due to the use of marijuana has been reported anywhere.
The amount of money generated by taxing the sell of marijuana could go along way in decreasing our state deficit. Not to mention the savings in law enforcement, and incarceration of people convicted of use or selling marijuana.
We, the undersigned, call on the legislatures to legalize the sell, and use of marijuana in the State of Texas.
