Dear Ladd Park Residents,

The Ladd Park Political Interest Committee, Ladd Park Advocacy Board, and neighbors of Long Lane, wanted to come to you directly with information we recently uncovered. There is a non-profit organization attempting, very soon, to acquire residential property on Long Lane, across the street from the main entrance into Ladd Park. They are seeking City of Franklin permission to turn the residential property into Civic and Institutional Use property to house a six-million dollar mental health facility called The Refuge Center for Counseling. We strongly believe that this facility does and will continue to do great things for many people, and we advocate for their success. At the same time, the residential location chosen so close to our neighborhood of 1,200+ homes has us asking, “Why this location?”

We ask everyone to check out their website at http://refugecenter.org/about-us/mission-vision-history/ and the property informational video at https://youtu.be/NxzP8YpKRKo. Notice that the video shows a remote countryside, much like you would think of as the perfect place for a refuge. But also notice that their drone aerial views intentionally keep our neighborhood out of view. There is no video showing our resident students from Long Lane and the daily bus stops directly in front of where the facility entrances/exits would be located. There is no video showing the traffic/safety impact of 36,000 plus counseling sessions per year, with annual estimated increases of 20%, right across the street from our main entrance.

In an effort to communicate the Ladd Park community's questions, concerns and voice to our City of Franklin Alderman and Mayor next week, we urgently need your immediate feedback, in opposition or favor, of this rezoning by Friday, November 30th at 9pm.

Regards,

Ladd Park Political Interest Committee and the Ladd Park Advocacy Board

After reviewing both sides of the information, please respond by choosing one of the following options.

No, we do not believe our residential community is appropriate for a high traffic, commercial/civic institutional facility.

-Yes, we are in favor of allowing a facility to convert residential property to commercial/civic institutional and build in our community.
