Kootenay Co-op Radio is community-owned and operated media outlet serving communities throughout the West Kootenay. With transmitters throughout the region, KCR offers a range of eclectic, locally produced programming reflecting the diverse perspectives of citizens of the West Kootenay.
In order to better serve listeners in Nelson, Proctor, the North Shore, Blewett, Taghum, Bonnington, Crescent Valley, Krestova, and Passmore, Kootenay Coop Radio is looking to place a transmitter in a new location which will increase signal strength and range.
I would like to express my support for Kootenay Co-op Radio's plan to construct a new antenna to improve the station's signal quality and reach.
KCR's programming is essential to building a strong sense of community and awareness of local culture by giving a platform to citizens to share their knowledge and views. Each week, dozens of volunteer programmers produce nearly 100 hours of original programming – ranging from music shows to news and culture shows that provide analysis of current affairs happening locally, nationally, and globally. By increasing signal strength and range, KCR will be able to provide more people in our region with a unique local perspective not found anywhere else.
I call on local leadership in the City of Nelson, as well as RDCK directors of areas E, F, and I to help make this project happen.
