Maurice White, musician and founder of perhaps the greatest band of all time, Earth Wind & Fire has contributed more to the popular music culture of today than perhaps any other person of his time.
Rising from a session drummer to member of the famed Ramsey Lewis Trio, Maurice White's greatest influence on the American music landscape happened after he formed the group that would later be known around the world as Earth Wind & Fire.
We, the undersigned fans and devotees of Maurice White and Earth Wind & Fire, call on the selection committee of the Kennedy Center Honors to recognized the musical genius of Maurice White, and matchless contribution that Earth Wind & Fire has made to popular music worldwide by making them 2013 Kennedy Center Honor recipients.
