Wisconsin lawmakers have announced plans to reintroduce legislation to force schools to make it legal to carry concealed weapons on school grounds. School districts would be able to prohibit weapons inside instructional buildings, but INDIVIDUAL SCHOOLS/SCHOOL DISTRICTS WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO PREVENT CONCEALED CARRY OF WEAPONS ON SCHOOL GROUNDS. This includes playgrounds, football fields, tennis courts, and pick-up and drop-off areas.
*This policy endangers our children's safety in cases of accidental discharge of weapons or weapons left unattended.
*This measure is wrong for our community and thus violates local control.
*Wisconsin has a very low level of safety training required for concealed carry permits.
The legislators plan to advance such legislation for private schools first, and then for public K-12 schools and college campuses.

We, the undersigned, call on the Whitefish Bay School Board to pass a resolution opposing any legislation that would allow guns to be possessed in or on School District property by anyone other than law enforcement.
