Green spaces have become increasingly overrun by private contractors using powerful, petrol-based modern machines (leaf-blowers and chainsaws). Contractors also drive large vans and 4x4s in parks and open spaces intended for no vehicles at all.
The public's comfort and safety is compromised and there is often damage to these environments through noise and fumes. This petition hopes to encourage a review of the 1990 Environmental Protection Act.
We, the undersigned, call on the Department of the Environment to ensure Britain's green spaces are kept free from noisy, petrol-driven machinery and road vehicles.
Please can the Environmental Protection Act be amended to incorporate this.
