There is no future in the burning of fossil fuels...
Is it really any suprise that global warming is taking place,even though the world is in a current warming period, its just what happens when u burn the worlds supply co2 emmitting fossil fuels
By 2050 the UK government wants to cut co2 emissions from transport by 60% which they are currently talking about making it upto 80%.
Around 70% of crude oil that comes into the country is used by the transport sector.
All the major countries that supply oil to the world Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Iraq, Russia have hit peak oil, which basically means they will never be able to extract as much oil from the ground in the future as they can now. World demand for oil has already exceeded available supply.
It is also estimated that there is only a 20yr supply left of oil. It is paramount that the government invest in trying to find alternative green/renewable energies for our oil dependant transport system. The US has invested 2 billion dollars in a detailed plan for the commercialisation of hydrogen transport around 2015. The Japanese have plans to put 5 million hydrogen vehicles on the road by 2020.
The EU has similar plans which the UK government backs but time is of the essence, they must do more..
We, the undersigned, petition for more government funding to go into existing green/renewable sources of energy for the transport system.
We want more government funding for the development of research into other possible energies that could replace oil as our no 1 source of energy for the transport system.
More clarity in government policy on what there plans are to replace the oil dependant system we have now with green/renewable system.
Government acknowledgment that it needs to build refuelling infrastructure for said green/renewable energies.
Government to give detailed time frame of when infrastructure is to built.
Government to give a accompanying budget for building infrastructure.
Government to give detailed plan of how they will link building of infrastructure with mass manufacture of green/renewable vehicles.
