Mimico is a wonderful community to live in with it's population being over 70% family. A safe family oriented neighbourhood is why this community is growing so well. Manitoba Street however, has become unsafe for the families and residents due to all types of vehicles speeding down the street. This issue has been growing over the past 10 years and is getting worse. We need a remedy for this issue and soon. Many instances have been witnessed by residents on the street. "Cars are driving by at 60+ km/h while I walk my 6 year old son to school which is a 5 min walk. TDSB encourages kids to walk or ride to school but yet we are always in danger in doing so". "Yesterday while working on my front yard I watched a white Ford Flex drive by at about 80km/h and blow through the stop sign at Manitoba and Milton". The safety of the growing families in this neighbourhood is at risk. We understand that there are development plans for the immediate area around Manitoba Street that will only bring more traffic to the area. The residents of this amazing community are being proactive and are petitioning for this traffic calming solution. Fatalities are likely to come if something is not done now about the speeding on this street.

We, the undersigned, are concerned about the safety of the residents and families of this community due to vehicles consistently speeding on Manitoba Street. We call on the City of Toronto Council to approve and install speed humps on Manitoba Street, between Milton Street and Grand Avenue, in Etobicoke.
