For the safety of pedestrians crossing Wasson Road, it is imperative that a crosswalk and flashing yellow light be installed at the intersection of Wasson Road and Monteith Avenue.

Wasson Road in Cincinnati is a heavily traveled side street between Edwards Road and Michigan Avenue. The speed limit is 30MPH on this half-mile stretch of road. Many people cross this section of Wasson Road to get back and forth between the Oakley and Hyde Park neighborhoods, including several school children who walk to and from school on a daily basis.

Currently there are no crosswalks on Wasson between Paxton and Michigan Avenues, despite there being considerable foot-traffic. Children walking to and from school and must cross Wasson every day, which typically occurs at Monteith Avenue. It is not uncommon to wait 5-10 minutes or longer to safely cross the street at this intersection. It is unsafe to cross here without a crosswalk, and getting to the nearest crosswalk requires walking along dilapidated, rundown train tracks.

With the building of Wasson Way in the future, there will be a significant increase in the number of people crossing Wasson on a regular basis.

To make it safe for all pedestrians crossing Wasson—especially young school children—we would like to immediately see a crosswalk and flashing yellow light installed at the intersection of Wasson Road and Monteith Avenue.

We, the undersigned citizens of Cincinnati, Ohio, request that a crosswalk and flashing yellow light be installed at the intersection of Wasson Road and Monteith Avenue.

After signing, please share this petition with your friends and family in Oakley and Hyde Park who are also affected by this extremely dangerous traffic hazard.
