Clinton Boys & Girls Club (CBGC) is a Private Operating Foundation which operates as a nonprofit 501(c)(3). Section 501(c)(3) is the portion of the US Internal Revenue Code that allows for federal tax exemption of nonprofit organizations.
It is regulated and administered by the US Department of Treasury through the Internal Revenue Service. Having 501(c)(3) status comes with compliance requirements which include operating the organization within the IRS regulations and filing some version of Form 990 with the IRS each year. Additional compliance requirements exist at the state level.
In review of CBGC’s 990 tax returns for years 2013, 2014, and 2015, several obvious questions need to be addressed and dialogue must occur to promote and facilitate efficient sustainable business practices. As illustrated in the returns, the club had revenues of $151,102, $167,526, and $198,550 respectively. The Club also had expenses that fluctuate drastically from year to year for no apparent reasoning.
We, the undersigned, call for an emergency Special Meeting as defined in the CBGC Bylaws Article III Section 4 to thoroughly review the financial status and health of the organization.
Please provide the following to reconcile to the 990 IRS filings for years 2013, 2014, and 2015:
1. CBGC, INC 501(c)(3) Determination Letter
2. Bank statements for said years
3. Annual budgets
4. Year-end financial reports
5. Receipts reconciling Schedule O of said 990 tax filings
6. Any other supporting documents for said filings.
