The 2017 Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) rates took effect on January 1, 2017. The Department of Defense reports that, on average, BAH rates will increase approximately 2.4 percent nationally (approximately $41/month).
However, the 2017 BAH Rates for the majority of active duty service members with and without dependents being stationed in Honolulu County decreased from 2016. For 2017, the BAH for service members with dependents being assigned to bases on Oahu has decreased from the previous year for 21 out of 24 active duty ranks (ranks E-6, W-1, and O-2 increased between $51-$57); the decreases range from $3 – $219 per month.
For service members without dependents stationed to Oahu in 2017, BAH rates decreased from 2016 for 15 out of 24 active duty service ranks ranging from $3 – $246 per month. The max increase was $60 for an O-3E and the lowest increase was $6 for a W-3.
This petition is to increase BAH for all active duty service members on Oahu, HI.
