Improving NICE Bus Routers over MTA MetroCard Fare Increase

Nassau Inter County Express was renamed by Veolia Transportation on January 1st, 2012, since MTA left Long Island Bus.

Under the MTA, Long Island bus were threatening to make drastic cuts, however they were doing better according to some NICE Riders.

Veolia broke promise not to change the bus routes, however starting in January 3rd, they came up with terrible change, eliminating n6 limited for non-stop n6x between Westminister Rd and Jamaica, Queens, then followed by April 8th, where n2/n8 combined as Green Acres Loop, n27 off-peak route ending at Roslyn Station forcing riders to change to n23, which caused major problems, n21 elimation during off-peak also have caused problem.

Thanks to my petition at SignOn.Org, NICE CEO Michael Setzer came through and extended off-peak n27 to Roosevelt Field Mall terminus during summer season, however still weekend issues are still major problems.

For Spring change on Dec 30th, they cut n50, n80/n81 service at Broadway Mall, without informing Broadway Mall about n50/n80/n81 no longer stopping by at the mall.

Veolia/NICE Bus should restore following routes.
1. n6x to add Elmont Rd.
2. n21 off-peak service should be restored, as n20 local are impacted by heavey loading at Flushing and Great Neck Station, forcing drivers to miss n27 connection in either direction.
3. n27 weekend service should be extended to Roosevelt Field Mall, because n23 and n27 conneting buses at Roslyn Station has major problem and there are no bus shelters at both n27 and n23 stops, and business will not allowed passengers to wait inside the store unless you buy something.
4. Veolia need to inform business when they eliminate some bus stops.
5. Veolia will also need to hold meeting advance like following MTA's step.
6. Veolia officials need to get in touch with Chinese Translator to inform Chinese riders of NICE Bus.
7. Veolia need to hold meeting location at various location like when they did with April 8th Service Change meeting.
