It is widely known that Flourtown Ave is a very popular cut-through street to avoid the congestion of Stenton Ave. Recently multiple eye witnesses have seen excessive speeders presumably coming from/to Erdenheim/Flourtown/Lafayette Hill areas. Most recently, on September 12th at approximately 4:07pm during after school bus drop offs, an SUV was seen travelling in excess of 60mph on Flourtown Ave coming from Willow Grove Ave. Had the buses not been late that day, a child (my child) could have been seriously injured. The Nextdoor social media mobile app has very detailed accounts of excessive speeders in the broader area. This is not a new problem.

We, the undersigned, call on the Springfield Township Planning Board to make our roads safer for our children and families, by implementing traffic calming speed cushions like they have in neighboring Chestnut Hill. Speed Cushions do not delay emergency vehicles like fire engines and ambulances because their wheel spacings fit into the cutouts allowing them to travel unimpeded.

The target locations would be as follows:

1). The entire length of Flourtown Ave starting at Gravers Lane.

2) Ardmore Ave between Gravers Lane and Willow Grove Ave.

3) Gravers Lane from Stenton to Flourtown Ave.
