The bridge located on 251 highway in Southwest Manitoba was neglected by the powers to be during the recent flood. Due to this neglect, the bridge buckled and is not safe to use.

This bridge would not be too difficult to fix and we would like to request the government to provide the funding for a temporary bridge to be erected to open this life line to light vehicles-cars, trucks and school buses thus leaving the detour road for heavy oil field traffic and farm implements.

A new bridge will be constructed in the near future but until that time, we do need a temporary bridge in place. 251 is a provincial road and it is up to the government to repair the bridge and would like to suggest that a Bailey Bridge/Acrow Bridge be in place by freeze up for us to use.

The detour road is not safe for all traffic and we hope that the government does not wait until an accident occurs and then decide to do something about it.

We the undersigned, call on the Provincial Government of Manitoba and the Federal Government of Canada to supply the funds for us to have a temporary bridge erected over the existing bridge before freeze up.

This bridge can be obtained from Grand Prarie, Alberta. There are engineers on site waiting to hear from us and they will assess the situation and proceed. This temporary bridge would be a quick fix and would last until we get a new bridge in place.

We need this bridge as soon as possible for oil workers, school buses, Canada Post delivering rural mail, agriculture activities, teachers and normal traffic.
