Liam MacCarthy has been one of Ireland's forgotten sons. We all know of the famous Hurling Cup, but little is known about the man who designed and donated the cup to the GAA in 1921.

He worked and helped lots of ex Pats who came to London and was closely linked to Michael Collins, Sam Maguire and Patrick Pearse.

He deserves a lasting memorial to celebrate his achievements and his patriotism.

The MacCarthy Cup bring enormous pride, emotion and celebration to the winners of the 'All Ireland' every year. It has filled stadiums and made grown men cry.
People like Sam Maguire, Christy Ring, Thomas Croke and Nicky Rackard already enjoy memorial statues in their honour.

Sadly, no such honour has yet been bestowed on MacCarthy, one of Irelands forgotten heroes.

We, the undersigned, agree in principle that a fitting memorial should be erected in Ireland to Celebrate the achievements of Liam MacCarthy.
