The Wollondilly is a rural community that over the years has seen a huge decline in access to local bushland for rural activities such as horse riding. The area is surrounded by thousands of hectares of bushland which only allows some areas for bushwalking.

We understand there has to be wilderness areas but there has to be a compromise. The Wollondilly is home to a very large amount of horse owners yet we have one small area (Thirlmere Lakes) which we are allowed to ride. We are virtually prisoners on our own properties. Conservation has gone too far, people in the area want to enjoy riding their horses along the many existing fire trails that are everywhere in the area. Or create bridle paths( like they have in the UK) to link town to town and keep us safer on the roads. A lot of drivers today do not know how to drive safely around horses.

We want to ENJOY OUR RURAL LIFESTYLES riding our horses in peaceful safe surroundings. We should not feel like criminals for enjoying horse riding in the bush. It's time for something to give.

Opening Fire Trails and Bridle Paths makes good Safety Sense
PETITION TO OPEN FIRE TRAILS AND BRIDLE PATHS IN THE WOLLONDILLY

The Wollondilly Shire is home to one of largest horse communities in the greater Sydney region. It is a community that loves animals and the environment. But sadly this community has been legally excluded from enjoying the vast bushland that surrounds our area and is there for the community to enjoy.

"We, the undersigned are concerned citizens who urge our leaders to act now."
