The Maeng family are being told they cannot remain in Canada. I met the father at their convenience store, where he works 14 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The mother works at the store and also has a booth at the Dieppe market. Their oldest son is studying at Dalhousie University to become a dentist. Both parents are friendly and hard-working, and were looking forward to their new life in Canada. But the Citizenship and Immigration Canada say their youngest son, who has autism and epilepsy, would be too expensive a burden on society, so the family cannot remain in Canada, and must return to South Korea.
