In Masiphumelele in the Western Cape of South Africa, 40 000 people are living in an area of 2km without proper sewerage, infrastructure and policing. Two decades since apartheid and nothing has changed for them. The government (local and national) continues to ignore them. More land needs to be granted for low cost development as a matter of urgency.
We the residents of the Noordhoek Valley and greater South Africa call on the DA in the Western Cape to prioritise the provision of land for low-cost housing and the necessary infrastructure for the suffering citizens of Masiphumelele with immediate effect.
