STATE government plans to build a very large eco-adventure park with flying fox between trees in a nature reserve in the Dandenong Ranges in Victoria.
Adventure park is planned for the 101-hectare R. J. Hamer Arboretum in Olinda. R.J Hamer was established in the 1970s and named in honor of then Liberal premier Rupert Hamer, a pioneering environmentalist.
The area was favoured by Australian impressionists such as Arthur Streeton, who captured the spectacular panorama in works such as View From Olinda, created around 1926.
The area is under petition to be listed and protected as a heritage site. The Brumby state government wants to block this petition and destroy the sites natural beauty by building a large commercial development on this site and several other crown owned natural sites around Victoria.
Local residents say they were not informed and found out only by accident - only when they found people preparing tenders walking the area.
This petition seeks to inform the Brumby government that its constituents do not agree with destroying beautiful, natural and historic sites for commercial gain.

We the undersigned strongly oppose the Brumby state governments plans to construct an Adventure park at the Hamer Arboretum, Olinda, Dandenong Ranges , Victoria.
We believe in preserving such sites, their natural beauty, their artistic and historical significance. We do not agree with the Brumby State Governments' plans to develop this area with the sole aim of increasing tourism and raising revenue.
It is our governments' responsibility to protect these sites for the enjoyment of generations to come.
