Give Cheer a Chance at CMS

Within the last few years, the Clarenceville School District decided to take cheerleading away from the middle school.The middle school was the only school in this district last year that did not offer some sort of cheer/spirit team.

The Clarenceville School District allows cheerleading for grades 1-5 and 9-12, however does not support a cheer/spirit team for the middle school. WHY? the band, chorus and football team are all still active. The Clarenceville H.S Cheer Team is awesome but has often suffered from the lack of experience.

Right now, the only way our middle school students can get any real cheerleading experience is to be placed on a waiting list for a city league or try out for an all star team which these both can be very expensive as well as hard to make. So, many of our high school cheerleaders have had little or no experience prior to high school cheer.

Much like many other sports, cheer-leading involves athleticism and dedication.

Cheering gives many girls:
*a boost of self-esteem *a way to maintain a healthy level of fitness *coordination *team building skills *improves confidence *helps set self goals *a reason for making the grades and close bonds to other girls
Cheering gives the school:
*positive role models *improves sport attendance and crowd participation at school sporting events *strengthens school pride *boost other athletes self-esteem *strong leadership and school spirit.
