Amendment 79, Arkansas Constitution is not sufficient relief for the elderly senior which only allows freeze of property values, neither is the Homestead credit.

What we need is true Tax relief from service that do not directly benefit seniors.
The biggest burden in the Property taxes in Garland County is School Taxes and
should be eliminated from consuming seniors limited income resources.

"Thank you for you commits, I have heard a few others mention the same issues, but their amounts were even smaller. We have looked at this in past sessions but couldn't get enough support from both sides to get anywhere with it, hopefully we can get in on the table this next session."

"I will be glad to look at your proposed legislation, and see if its something that we can pass. I personally think it's a good idea."

We, the listed citizens of Garland County, Arkansas, request that the Garland County Commission and, or the State legislators initiate action to implement a local exemption to provide property tax relief for our senior citizens.

Specifically, we request 100 percent relief from the County's property school tax Levey beginning at age 65 for one of either spouse or single, with income limited to Social Security, additional income prorated for above State, Federal Tax except income. Also the property is required it to be the primary residence for the year when the exception is filed.

Many states and counties have already enacted similar local exemptions for their citizens as authorized by the State Constitutions. In our case Amendment 79, Arkansas Constitution is inadequate and may have to be amended or a new one write to address this proposal.
