The mission of Project GRAD is to ensure a quality public education for students in economically disadvantaged communities so that high school and college graduation rates increase.
Project GRAD Houston’s goal is to see at least 80% of entering ninth graders graduate from high school and at least 50% of those graduates attend college. Addressing improved academic preparation and creating a fertile ground for cultural change are essential to achieving these goals.
The Project GRAD Houston Scholarship Program provides financial assistance toward a college education to eligible seniors of Davis, Houston, Reagan, Wheatley, and Yates high schools in Houston, Texas.
To date Project GRAD Houston has given out over $20 million in scholarship awards to more than 5,000 students.
We, the undersigned, call on Dr. Grier and the HISD Board of Trustees to continue funding Project GRAD.
We believe it is an important program for our community given that it provides financial resources to our students to attend college.
