I'm going to keep this short. The Sydney government alone spent $6.8 million on fireworks to keep Sydneysiders entertained for a few hours. I'm not suggesting New Years Eve is not a time to be celebrated. However, wouldn't this money be better spent on feeding the starving, not only in Australia but all over the world.

In this year of 2014/15 Sydney can start by making an example, so instead of putting on a million dollar fireworks display that lasts only a few minutes, that money should be donated to the worlds hungry.

Our world should not be judged by the rich and successful, but by the treatment of the less fortunate.

I urge all countries to jump on board and sign this petition because together we are a step closer to curing world hunger.

We, the undersigned, call on the Sydney government to donate the $6.8 million usually spent on NYE fireworks, to the world's starving and less fortunate in the year 2014/15.
