Mrs Hakimeh Shokri, a Women's Rights activist was arrested and transferred to Evin prison on November 4th, 2010 while she was participating in the funeral of Amir Arshad Tajmir, one of the people who were killed during the demonstrations shortly after the Iranian presidential election on 2009.

After spending two months and a half in prison, Hakimeh Shokri was conditionally released until her case being further processed. On April 13th 2011, Hakimeh was prosecuted in the Enghelab Court and was charged with crimes of forming propaganda against the Islamic government and jeopardizing the national security and therefore was convicted of three years prison. Hakimeh Shokri has been in prison since then. On August 5th 2013, Hakimeh Shokri was permitted to leave the prison for 10 days and because her permission to leave was not extended by the authorities, she had to return to prison on August 12th 2013.

Mrs Hakimeh Shokri has been arrested and sentenced based on unreasonable accusations and only because she, as a human was expressing her opinions which is one of the basic rights that each human must have.
