According to a letter sent from the City of Elkins, WV on January 20, 2016, certain properties outside of Elkins city limits will now be subject to a Fire Service Fee levied by the City of Elkins.
Due to the generalized nature of the letter and due to lack of prior notification, we, the property owners are questioning this Fire Service Fee and are asking why this is not a County fee, rather than a city of Elkins Fire Fee.
We request that our County Commission look into this matter, and make the fire fee outside of Elkins city limit a county fee, rather than a city fee.
WE THE UNDERSIGNED TAX PAYERS DO PROTEST THE IMPOSED FIRE FEE BY THE CITY OF ELKINS, W. VA.
NOTE: We had no representation in the matter.
We should have had Representation before being imposed the Fire Fees outside the city limits. THIS SHOULD BE BASED ON A COUNTY WIDE FEE.
