We, the undersigned, who are families and loved ones who have suffered the traumatic loss of their family and who have been negatively impacted by the opioid epidemic and who are residents of the State of New York, sign this petition to force the issue that THESE FUNDS ARE AWARDED ON THE BACKS AND BLOOD OF OUR LOVED ONES WHOSE LIVES HAVE BEEN RAVAGED AND LOST and THOSE WHO CONTINUE TO SUFFER from SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER.
ALL awards associated with opioid litigation ARE NOT TO BE ALLOCATED TO THE GENERAL FUND!
We are demanding that these funds be allocated to PREVENTION, HARM REDUCTION, TREATMENT, RECOVERY HOUSING AND INITIATIVES, MORE SUBSTANCE USE WORKERS, INCREASE SALARIES FOR SAID WORKERS AND BETTER ACCESS TO SUD AND MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT.
THE THOUGHT OF THIS MONEY TO BE USED FOR ANY OTHER PROJECT IS EGREGIOUS – TOO MANY FAMILIES LIVE IN GRIEF AND WITH AN EMPTY CHAIR AT THEIR TABLES.
We, the families and loved ones who have suffered the tragic loss of our family to the opioid epidemic demand that all settlement funds that come to NYS from the litigation against opioid manufacturers, distributors, consultants, or resellers be used to support both the expansion of current services and supports and the development of new services and supports. No funds shall be used to replace current state funding for existing services and supports and that such funds shall be administered by the Office of Addiction Services and Supports.
