Currently, the East Haven Academy does not allow a sibling preference, which has caused students to miss out on a hands-on type of learning.
Without a sibling preference, families with multiple children are now expected to have kids in various schools at the same time. This causes stress to parents trying to participate in their children's school activities, homework, field trips, etc. with stress and disappointment trickling down to the students.
Parents can not be in multiple places at once. East Haven taxpayers should have the option of sending all their children to The Academy, not just the ones who "win" the lottery.
We the undersigned, call on the East Haven Board of Education to reconsider the prior Board's decision not to allow a sibling preference at the East Haven Academy and to recognize the benefit of families having as many children as possible in the same school.
