Thanks to all who supported the petition for a dog park at the Milton Roberts Recreation Center in East Knoxville. We gathered 120 signatures in three days and showed strong community backing for the application submitted by our 4H neighbor. We will hope that her application on behalf of our area is successful and that happy dogs and their owners will be gathering there in the not too distant future.

The Randy Boyd Foundation initiated a competition for ten $50,000 grants to build dog parks in Knox County, five within the city and five in the county. A young East Knox 4H-er saw the great potential for underused land in the city-owned Milton Roberts Recreation Center, located near the Holston River between Asheville Highway and Holston Drive, and she proposed it as a site. Her proposal made it through the first round of the competition, and it is now up to the community to show its support for this great idea.
A first-rate dog park would be a wonderful addition to the community. It would offer a gathering place for diverse neighbors to meet and would aid in the revitalization of the Rec Center. Please add your voice as we seek this high-quality installation for our community.
We strongly support the proposal to build a dog park at the Milton Roberts Recreation Center. The dog park would be a great addition to the community and would bring improvements and visitors to an underused city facility.
