Please help support the bylaw amendment for bylaw No. 1999-52 Section 26 (3)(m) the regulations regarding boarding kennels to reduce the setback from the neighbouring dwelling. for Agriculture Zoning.

My request is that the minimal setback for Agriculture Zoned area of Amherstburg have a set back of 95 feet from the neighbouring dwelling to allow me to begin with the process of application for permits to proceed with this matter and to make use of this land.

Due to the economic hardships in Amherstburg we should all do our part to support the turn around. The property at 4483 Concession 4 North was once a lucrative horse racing business. But with the poor mismanagement of the OLG and closures of many raceways, the farm is running at less than ¼ of capacity of horses which was at one time running on full capacity.

With that being said, it is my obligation as a parent and citizen of Amherstburg to find a solution for the farm and do a complete overhaul of the farm business that will also contribute to the Town of Amherstburg and the citizens who reside here.

This will help us attract clients from the surrounding communities, Southwestern Ontario and Michigan.

This endeavour is in high demand already and will exceed The Town of Amherstburg's expectations.

Although there are a handful of dog kennel/boarding facilities in Essex county and London, Ontario, the closest facility similar to what we have to offer as an "upscale" Dog Hotel is in Toronto, Ontario area.

I believe in The Town of Amherstburg. I am proud of MY town. I was born and raised here and have a long and well respected family history. I also have an obligation to contribute to the community and to represent the community in a tasteful manner. I am dedicated to see this through until my doors open for business.

I will be offering an elegant full-service animal care facility dedicated to consistently providing high customer satisfaction by providing excellent service, quality pet care in a fun, clean safe and secure atmosphere for dogs.

Animals are playing a larger role in our lives, and working people are choosing to provide them a good life. Loving families with active pets are in search of better lives for their pets and peace of mind for themselves, causing busy animal lovers to seek out an ever growing boarding/hotel care facilities in the Essex County area.

For customer convenience, in addition to day care, the" Dog Hotel" will include overnight care in our elite hotel-like facility with customized bedding, individual suites and a number of executive suites. The facility will resemble more a hotel than a boarding kennel. The building design and features will be constructed in such a way to help alleviate owner concern and reduce noise levels to respect our neighbours. This is not an outdoor traditional kennel facility. More importantly, it will be clean, climate controlled, disease regulated with dog and cat first aid and CPR training to ensure pet safety and well being. The facility will follow the guidelines from the Code of Practice for Canadian Kennel Operations. There will be a certified veterinary technician on staff to help manage these guidelines.

The Dog Hotel will be situated on 24 acres of beautifully kept grass land and trails for dogs to run and play on leash only.

As the owner, I have worked at a high paced, customer service oriented profession with the public for many years. I have earned the respect of others through hard work and dedication. I have cared for pets all of my life, and at any given time there have been one or more animals living in our home. I have the experience necessary to understand each animal's and their needs and that they may be different from others and be more fragile.

I will be available on site 24/hours a day to provide care to your loved ones as I reside on our property. This is my life long passion to see this endeavour come to fruition.

Thank you,
Denise Fernandes
