My husband is 60 and in late stage dementia , he has been let down very badly by two so called care homes in york both promised the earth and could not deliver . They should not be allowed to cherry pick their residents to suit them , every dementia journey is different and all staff should be highly trained to support our vulnerable relatives .it is a horrendous disease and we shouldn't give hope only to have it taken away last minute . What's the point of a dementia ward that can't deal with dementia symptoms
We the undersigned call for the uk parliament to make it compulsory for all private care homes with dementia wards/emi units to accept all dementia patients regardless of age and progression and have fully trained staff . Capable of looking after their patients
